Getting back links is good. I also think adding content often and good keywords will allow user to find the site and increase traffic as well. Adding Articles and blog to your site will increase traffic. A great Article can put you to the top in no time. No duplicate content.

Google Page rank is based on back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website. The more back links you have the higher your PR will be.
