This was posted in another forum. It is a fairly old document, but it is a great information article on the sub structure and theory behind a search engine. Definately worth reading.

PageRank can be thought of as a model of user behavior. We assume there is a "random surfer" who is given a web page at random and keeps clicking on links, never hitting "back" but eventually gets bored and starts on another random page. The probability that the random surfer visits a page is its PageRank.

Yes, this documents worth reading. Thank you, jestep for pointing on them. Few years ago I've read this articles. A lot of changes since, but of course it worth reading.

That's my first time seeing that too! Pretty intense stuff. Very scholarly (duh!).

This is a very very old document as you know that with the online business, facts like this could very much be well outdated in a matter of minutes just like our forum posts do.

Thanks a lot for the big help of providing this data.
