According to security vendor, Websense, Google's "Google Pages" was being used to host a malicious code snippet known as a Trojan Horse or "keylogger". The code is used to extract bank info and other sensitive data from the computers of unsuspecting web browsers.
Users are enticed to open attachments or click on Web links to launch the Trojan, releasing the malicious code on their computer. Fortunately, this particular Trojan Horse code appears to have been found before its authors managed to launch an attack of any kind.
Google Pages is a webhosting service provided by Google. It is very similar to Yahoo's Geocities in that it allows users to create individualized web pages. This has prompted some to wonder if unscrupulous webmasters are running similar malicious programs on Yahoo's hosted pages.
